The tariff applies to product that:
- has China as its country of origin;
- is shipped to the U.S. on or after May 10, 2019; and
- is classified under any of the listed HTC codes
Any affected products which are in transit before May 10 and arriving to the US before June 1 are subject to the 10% tariff.
This is in addition to any existing duties that may be imposed on the product. For example, if a covered product has an existing rate of 5%, the new tariff for that item will be 30%.
If an affected product is in transit before May 10 and will be arriving to the US before June 1, the tariff remains 10%. If the product arrives on or after June 1, the tariff will increase to 25%.
Smith will continue to monitor the situation. In the meantime, please contact your Smith representative if you have any questions or request a quote here to find the parts you need today.
