Smith Houston Returns Strong After Hurricane Harvey
Company organizes donation drive to help local community

We are grateful and humbled, both for the outpouring of concern from our friends and business partners around the world and for surviving this incredible marathon of a storm so unscathed.

All of Smith’s buildings, products, and people are safe, and together we will continue providing the strong support for our supply chain partners that you’ve come to expect. Smith’s Asian and European hubs managed our global operations during the storm. We are now open for business worldwide at full strength, led by our team in Houston.

As Houstonians, we’ve come from every corner of the globe to make this city our home.

More than 30,000 of our neighbors need help, and we are lending a hand by delivering necessary items for those displaced by the storm to local shelters and the Red Cross. If any of you, our worldwide neighbors, wish to help us help them, here is how you may:

The supplies that have been requested to help them include:

  • Cleaning supplies, buckets, brooms, bleach, trash bags, etc.
  • Diapers, wipes, formula
  • Children’s books
  • Toiletries and hygiene products
  • Towels
  • Nonperishable food items
  • Pet food

All material donations collected will be distributed by Smith personnel to local shelters and charities as needed. If you’d prefer to make a monetary contribution, please donate to the American Red Cross.

SMITH Disaster Recover

Smith Houston reopened for business on Thursday, 8/31.

Our hearts are heavy, but our resolve is strong to help rebuild the City of Houston following Hurricane Harvey. Smith’s people are all safe, and our facilities in Houston remained secure and undamaged. Smith’s operations continued throughout the week with the support of our strategic global logistics hubs in Hong Kong and Amsterdam.

Smith is supporting the Houston community through fundraising efforts and has programs in place for our employees who were evacuated and sustained damage to their homes. We feel for our city during this time of rebuilding and are confident in Houston’s ability to rebound from this disaster. More updates will follow.
