Smith Appoints Mike Pursley and Todd Snow as Vice Presidents of Global Purchasing

Mike and Todd will oversee Smith’s purchasing activities and expand global procurement strategies

Houston, TX (April 3, 2019) – Smith, a global distributor of electronic components and semiconductors, today announces the appointments of Mike Pursley and Todd Snow as Vice Presidents of Global Purchasing. Mike previously served as Smith’s Director of PPV – Global, and Todd previously held the role of Vice President of Global Project Development for Smith.

Mike and Todd will work together to oversee all of Smith’s global purchasing personnel to make sure that every requirement is handled with intensity and diligence. Their key focus will be identifying and implementing flexible procurement strategies to support customers during obsolescence, lifecycle management, and shortage situations. Todd and Mike will work alongside other members of Smith’s senior management team to engineer the most cost-efficient solutions and uphold the highest quality standards when sourcing components.

“We see this role as an opening to optimize freight costs and net terms and to find both new and direct sourcing channels that better serve Smith,” said Mike. “Training our current suppliers to work with Smith in a true partnership will benefit our customers by strengthening our most valuable sources of cost-efficient, traceable, and long-term supplies of product.”

Before they advanced to their new roles, Mike and Todd worked together to grow Smith’s cost-savings program from a startup level to a now-dynamic initiative that enhances the company’s overall trading efforts. This program, which the two lead, augments the everyday sourcing support Smith provides customers with increased value.

“Putting two sets of eyes on an opportunity and developing creative, robust, and scalable solutions is what we do best,” said Todd. “One of our immediate goals is to take Smith’s strengths in the purchasing arena and make them even better and further-reaching. We’re very excited about the opportunity to co-lead the Smith global purchasing team and support the company’s future growth.”

Both Mike and Todd bring extensive industry expertise that will inform their undertakings as they work to promote Smith’s unique procurement offerings and extend support worldwide. Mike has served on Smith’s global team for almost 27 years, and Todd’s nearly two decades in the franchise distribution sphere have provided him multifaceted knowledge of sales, sourcing, and procurement.

“A strong purchasing department is the backbone of Smith’s ability to serve our customers in a timely and efficient fashion,” said Bob Ackerley, Smith’s co-founder and director. “Over the past few years, our salespeople have built relationships that have taken Smith to a new level of size and prominence within the industry. The next big driver of growth will come out of our efforts to refine and rethink how we manage our numerous global suppliers.”
