Trends from Electronica China 2019

Electronica China, the leading electronics trade fair in Asia, is underway in Shanghai this week. The event has brought together exhibitors and visitors from around the world to showcase the industry’s most exciting breakthroughs, products, and technological developments.

Smith representatives are exploring many of the show’s trending topics, including power supplies, AI, IoT, and applications in healthcare and smart manufacturing. Popular commodities, such as MLCCs, continue to be a prominent focal point.

“MLCC market demand is currently saturated – a challenge that most stakeholders in the industry are facing,” said Gordon Qiu, Smith’s Managing Director, East Asia. “At the show, Smith sales representatives are meeting with both existing and potential customers to exchange ideas about investment in the booming Southeast Asian market and developing tools to aid in solving obsolescence and excess management issues.”

Beyond MLCCs, the fair is highlighting the full range of electronic components, as well as their specific applications across a number of fields, such as nanosystems and interconnection technology. This year’s Automotive Day has been extended into a summit that focuses on intelligent-network and new-energy vehicles, which will pave the way for many exciting advancements in the industry. Top automotive electronics brands, such as Bosch, Micron, Qualcomm, and Sony, are also in attendance to share their insights and latest developments.

Smith will continue to survey ongoing reporting and reviews after the show has concluded, and we will share more of the latest market trends as they emerge.
