Insights from EDS

Smith attended the EDS Leadership Summit, which was recently held from May 7 to 10, 2019 at the Mirage hotel in Las Vegas, NV. The annual event serves as a networking opportunity for distributors, manufacturers, and suppliers who support the electronic component industry to develop and strengthen relationships with one another.

Smith representatives met one-on-one with some of the 400+ manufacturers in attendance at the show to gain insight into the latest industry trends. Smith utilized these meetings to learn about new product offerings, as well as current challenges and difficulties being faced. Our representatives discussed the resources and tools Smith provides, including excess and vendor-managed inventory (VMI) solutions, custom supply chain strategies, and market expertise.

In addition to sourcing components through the open market, Smith’s vast network of trusted suppliers includes OEMs and CMs. Through this multi-channel supplier system, Smith can source obsolete and hard-to-find parts, assist with end-of-life and last-time buys, and identify PPV cost-saving opportunities. Attending EDS helped Smith to broaden our supplier connections to provide maximized support for our customers.
