Smith’s Hong Kong Employees Answer Letters to Santa


Volunteers partnered with mymailbox852 to bring holiday cheer to others

With the holidays upon us, we’re reminded that the best gift of all is spreading happiness and joy to others. It can be easy to get caught up in the to-do lists that go along with this time of year, but our Hong Kong offices made time to help those in need of a little extra joy in their lives.

For the third year in a row, employees from Smith’s Hong Kong sales and warehouse locations teamed up with mymailbox852 to answer letters to Santa from local residents. Macy Sin, HR Assistant in our Hong Kong office, said it was gratifying for the employees to be able to help people who needed it.

“Each incoming letter is unique with the messages that they want to share with Santa,” said Macy. “Some of the messages are happy, while others are from people who want to talk about a challenge they’re facing. We act as Santa for that person and answer the letters to help them feel cared for and heard.”

The mission of mymailbox852 is to “transmit love and happiness in words.” As society has increasingly become more dependent on technology, the organization has noticed that intended message and tone are often lost in the text. They hope that through the resurgence of letter writing, people will be able to better convey messages of love and happiness.
