Smith & Associates to Exhibit at Anti-Counterfeit Conference Hosted by NASA and IMAPS

HOUSTON, TEXAS - (September 28, 2009) On October 1, 2009 at the Radisson Hotel at Los Angeles Airport, Smith & Associates will exhibit at a conference focusing on "Counterfeit Electronic Parts; Awareness, Avoidance, Detection and Mitigation." The workshop is co-hosted by NASA and the Southern California Chapters of the International Microelectronics and Packaging Society (IMAPS).

"All elements of the electronics supply chain, from the original component manufacturer to the end user, have been directly impacted by counterfeit electronic components. Estimates are that nearly 8% of the world's goods are counterfeit and that is at least a $600B global problem with $250B of that impacting the U.S. economy and workforce directly," reports NASA.

The conference will include exhibits from various suppliers and manufacturers and break out sessions featuring topics that present solutions to prevent counterfeit parts from entering the supply chain.

"Smith & Associates recognizes the gravity of  the issues surrounding counterfeit components, and we are happy to see industry leaders and NASA come together to address the problem," said Matthew Hartzell, Smith's Chief Operating Officer.
