Testing Driving the Ninebot Self-Balancing Robot at CES

Yesterday, we discussed the abundance of automobile companies showcasing innovative technology at CES 2015. Today we are talking personal transportation on a smaller scale.

The Ninebot, which debuted last year at CES, is similar in appearance to a Segway but aims to be more fashionable and futuristic. Ninebot, a robotics company based in Beijing, is looking to distinguish itself and redefine short distance travel.

Dubbed “the next generation of personal transportation," the Ninebot is a lightweight, self-balancing scooter robot with a sleek, customizable appearance. Another addition to the Internet of Things, you can wirelessly connect your smartphone to the scooter.

I had the opportunity to test-drive the Ninebot at CES and you can check it out in the video below. It was self-propelled, easy to drive and about half the weight of a Segway.
