(HOUSTON, TEXAS) October 30, 2013 - Smith & Associates, the largest independent distributor of electronic components, will be participating in a peer learning workshop, Collaborating for Sustainability in the Houston Region, on October 30, 2013. Organized by the City of Houston Green Office Challenge and the Institute for Sustainable Communities, the all-day workshop will be held at the Julia Ideson Library and will include participants from green teams all around Houston.
The workshop serves as one of several community outreach efforts put forth by the City of Houston Green Office Challenge, and will focus on networking, learning, and strategizing across Houston’s green teams. The agenda includes a blend of interactive panel discussions and small-group working sessions focused on sustainability.
Art Figueroa, Smith's Vice President of Global Operations, will be a part of the workshop's panel entitled "Tales from the Frontiers of Change Management for Sustainability." Art leads Smith’s Sustainability Group and managed Smith headquarters' "Greenovation" project, which won the overall award for Greatest Implementation of Green Building Innovations from the City of Houston's 2012 Green Office Challenge.
"I look forward to sharing Smith's greenovation experience and strategizing with other green teams in our area to help us continue our momentum and find new approaches and ideas that will take our sustainability efforts to the next phase," said Art.
Also participating in the workshop will be Smith's Marketing Manager, Margo Evans, who is a founding member of the Smith Sustainability Group. Margo will be speaking on the panel "Culture Change and Green Teams."
