Corning Gorilla Glass 2: A Display You'll Go Bananas For (video)

PrintE-mail

We mentioned it yesterday, but it’s worth saying again: Gorilla Glass 2 is here. Corning is known for developing some remarkable screen technology, and Gorilla Glass 2 is without a doubt the king of its glass display jungle.

Gorilla Glass was first introduced in 2007, setting a new standard for screen resiliency. It is currently the most widely-deployed cover glass in the world, designed into more than 575 product models spanning more than 500 million units across the globe.

Gorilla Glass 2 is 20 percent thinner than its predecessor, yet remains as strong and scratch-resistant as ever. In addition to helping end users avoid scratches on their devices, the thinner material allows manufacturers to create products with brighter images, greater touch sensitivity, all while allowing them more flexibility in the design process.

What's interesting about Gorilla Glass is its wide array of application possibilities. From home appliances to automotive uses to personal electronics, Gorilla Glass is a flexible material, in more ways than one.
