Smith Quality Managers and Engineers Earn IPC-A-610 and IPC J-STD-001 Certifications
HOUSTON, TEXAS – (February 1, 2011) Smith & Associates, a global leader in electronics distribution, recently announced that its US based quality managers and engineers have achieved IPC-A-610 and IPC J-STD-001 certification. With these certifications, Smith is making yet another step forward in its ongoing efforts toward consistent quality control through continued training and development.
"The IPC-A-610 training program was extremely beneficial because it provides an understanding of accept/reject criteria for the manufacturing of electrical and electronic assemblies. It encompasses a range of topics that are critical in our industry including hardware installation, soldering, surface mounting for chip components, and jumper wire assembly requirements," said Chris Dang, Quality Manager.
The J-STD-001 certification program includes topics such as safety, tools and ESD, wire and terminal assembly, through hole technology, surface mount technology, solder requirements, test methods, standards and statistical process control.
"The J-STD-001 training covered issues that are imperative to ensuring the highest level quality products. The program examined how process control methodology can be used to ensure consistent quality levels during the manufacturing process," said Mike McCalley, Quality Engineer.
Smith is now planning for a second wave of IPC-A-610 and IPC J-STD-001 certifications to include its quality managers and engineers in its
