Gartner Says PC Sales Soar In Q1

Amidst all the buzz about the latest smart phone and the Apple iPad vs. the HP slate device, it might be easy to overlook the fact that the market for plain old desktop and notebook PCs is experiencing one of its strongest growths ever.
Analyst firm Gartner on Wednesday said PC vendors shipped a total of 84.3 million units worldwide in the first quarter of 2010, which is a 27.4 percent increase compared to the 66.2 million units sold in the first quarter of 2009.
