IPC: Buyers increase printed circuit board orders

Shipments of printed circuit boards increased 8.5% in February compared to February 2009, while new orders increased 29.1%, according to trade association IPC. Shipments in February 2010 also increased 4.8% from January.
The increase in shipments and new orders were for rigid printed circuit boards, which account for 90% of the board market. Rigid PCB shipments were up 9.4%, while bookings increased 36.4% in February from year-ago levels. Flexible circuit shipments in February declined 2.1%, and bookings dropped 37.4% compared to last year.
