Market Alert: Memory Market Update
Monday, 14 September 2009 14:08

Our commodity manager for memory products, Todd Banker, offers the following updates to recent activity in the memory market:
- Pricing for DDR3 is currently stable while pricing for DDR2 is moving up.
- Supply for 667 and 800 1G/2G, specifically, is tight creating some daily volatility in pricing
- Pricing for ECC modules is also rising FB DIMMs and non-REG/unb, the most popular, are in short supply and have more chip value in them, so their pricing in increasing at a higher percentage rate than others.
- ECC Reg are not as widely used, but have higher build costs now, so they're a bit on the increase also.
If you have any questions about the open market for memory products or if you need assistance sourcing parts for your build, please contact your Smith representative or Todd Banker at
